Welcome to AlbertasBest.ca! These Listing Guidelines explain our requirements and standards for business listings on our platform. All businesses must comply with these guidelines to be listed.

Eligibility Requirements

Geographic Requirements

• Physical Alberta Location Required: Your business must have a physical location in Alberta, Canada
• Home-Based Businesses: Home-based businesses operating in Alberta are welcome and eligible for listing
• Service Area: If your business has multiple locations, your primary business address must be in Alberta. You may list each Alberta location separately but multiple listings of any one location is prohibited.
• Out-of-Province Businesses: Businesses located outside Alberta are not eligible.

Listing Submission Process

Information Required

To submit a business listing, you must provide:

• Business Name: Official legal or operating name
• Complete Address: Physical street or mailing address
• Contact Information: Valid phone number and email address
• Business Description: Clear, accurate description of your products or services
• Business Hours: Current operating hours
• Category Selection: Choose the most appropriate category
• Website/Social Media (optional but recommended)

Listing Review

All listings are subject to review before publication.

• Every submission is manually reviewed by our team
• Review typically takes 2-5 business days
• We may contact you for additional information or verification
• Approval is not guaranteed — we reserve the right to decline any listing

Verification Requirements

We may request owner verification for any listing, including one or more of the following:

• Proof Of Business License
• Verification of Alberta physical address
• Business Owner Identity Verification
• Additional documentation at our discretion

Failure to provide requested verification may result in listing rejection or removal.

Content Standards

Accurate Information

All listing information must be:

• Truthful and Accurate: Do not exaggerate or misrepresent your business
• Current and Up-to-Date: Update information promptly when changes occur
• Complete: Provide all required information fields
• Verifiable: Information must be able to be confirmed if requested

Business Descriptions

Your business description should:

• Clearly explain what your business offers
• Be written in proper English (French acceptable for bilingual businesses)
• Focus on your actual services and products
• Avoid excessive promotional language or hype
• Be free of spelling and grammatical errors
• Not include competitor names or comparisons

Character limits apply — keep descriptions concise and relevant.

Photos and Images

If uploading photos:

• Use high-quality, professional images
• Show your actual business, products, or services
• Ensure you own rights to all images
• No watermarks from other directories or websites
• No stock photos presented as your business
• Images must be appropriate and family-friendly

Contact Information

• Provide direct contact methods (phone, email)
• Do not use competitor contact information
• Ensure phone numbers and emails are monitored and responsive
• Update immediately if contact information changes

Prohibited Content and Conduct

Listings Will Be Rejected or Removed For:

Ineligible Businesses

• Businesses located outside Alberta
• Businesses without a physical address
• Fraudulent or non-existent businesses

Inappropriate Content

• Adult entertainment or sexually explicit services
• Illegal products or services
• Pyramid schemes or multi-level marketing (primary focus)
• Escort services
• Weapons or explosives sales
• Tobacco sales (cigarettes, vaping) as primary business
• Recreational cannabis retail (medical cannabis services may be considered)
• Gambling services

Misleading Information

• False or deceptive business information
• Fake reviews or ratings
• Impersonating another business
• Misleading business names or descriptions

Policy Violations

• Duplicate listings for the same business and location.
• Multiple listings to manipulate search results
• Spam or irrelevant content
• Abusive or harassing content
• Violation of intellectual property rights
• Content that violates our Terms of Service

Quality Standards

Professional Presentation

Listings should maintain a professional standard:

• Use proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation
• Avoid ALL CAPS (except acronyms)
• No excessive punctuation (!!!, ???)
• Professional tone appropriate for your industry

Completeness

Complete listings perform better and are more likely to be approved:

• Fill out all available fields
• Add business hours
• Include contact information
• Upload quality photos (when applicable)
• Provide detailed business descriptions

Listing Maintenance

Keeping Your Listing Current

You are responsible for:

• Updating hours during holidays or special circumstances
• Changing contact information when it changes
• Modifying service descriptions as your business evolves
• Responding to customer reviews (if applicable)
• Renewing premium listings before expiration

Inactive or Outdated Listings

We may remove or suspend listings that:

• Contain outdated or inaccurate information
• Have disconnected phone numbers or bounced emails
• Have been flagged by multiple users as incorrect
• Appear to be for closed businesses

Reviews and User Feedback

Customer Reviews

Your listing may receive customer reviews and ratings. You cannot:

• Remove negative reviews (unless they violate our content policies)
• Post fake positive reviews
• Incentivize customers to leave only positive reviews
• Harass or threaten users who leave negative reviews

Responding to Reviews

You may respond to reviews professionally:

• Address concerns constructively
• Thank customers for positive feedback
• Correct factual inaccuracies politely
• Do not engage in arguments or personal attacks

Free vs. Featured Listings

Free Listings Include:

• Basic business information
• Category placement
• Contact details
• Standard search visibility

Featured Listings May Include:

• Enhanced visibility in search results
• Featured placement in category pages
• Featured placement on Home Page
• Additional photos and media
• Additional features and functionality
• Extended business descriptions
• Priority customer support
• Analytics and insights

Our Rights and Discretion

AlbertasBest.ca reserves the right to:

• Review and approve or reject any listing submission without explanation
• Edit listing content for clarity, accuracy, grammar, or policy compliance
• Request additional information or verification at any time
• Remove or suspend listings that violate these guidelines
• Remove listings for businesses that have closed or relocated outside Alberta
• Change listing categories or reorganize directory structure
• Modify these guidelines at any time
• Refuse service to anyone for any reason
• Make final decisions on all listing-related matters

We exercise complete editorial discretion over all content appearing on AlbertasBest.ca.

Reporting Issues

Report Inaccurate Listings

If you find a listing with incorrect information, please report it to us with:

• The business name and listing URL
• Description of the inaccuracy
• Correct information (if known)

Report Policy Violations

To report a listing that violates these guidelines:

• Contact us at privacy@albertasbest.ca
• Include the listing URL and specific violation
• Provide evidence if possible

We review all reports but cannot guarantee specific actions or outcomes.

Changes to These Guidelines

We may update these Listing Guidelines at any time to:

• Clarify existing policies
• Add new requirements
• Respond to emerging issues
• Improve listing quality

Updated guidelines will be posted with a new “Last Updated” date. Continued use of our services constitutes acceptance of any changes.
